conducts agricultural research for development in Asia

and sub-Saharan Africa with a wide array of partners

Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain various modern online indexing,
e-publishing and contemporary Open Access practices
for effectively implementing Library and Information
Services.
Promote and expand ICRISAT Open Access Repository
activities http://oar.icrisat.org runs on EPrints and also
other platforms such as Libcat, Koha etc.
Contribute in implementing ICRISAT Open Access
Policies in line with CGIAR Open Access Policies.
Support research management through carrying out
citation analysis of Institute publications.
Liaise with online subscription services providers and
the CGIAR's IM Community.
Closely work with senior manager- data management
unit to handle the institutional open data repositories.
Work with ICRISAT scientists to promote open access
movement and increase the research staff participation
in open document repository.
Identifying training needs as well as conducting
capacity building programmes to staff on latest library
and information management techniques, including
Library server management and open access
repositories.
Any other work assigned by Global Leader, KSI.
Competencies:
Ability to manage Library and Information Services
withexperience in handling open access repositories.
Experience in developing and maintaining DSpace,
EPrints, Libcat and Koha platforms.
Demonstrated experience in maintaining interoperable
institutional repositories.
Working Knowledge/Experience in management of
Library networks
Working Knowledge of best practices in library
management, network security and Library resource
sharing
Working experience in handling agricultural information
and knowledge management services is an added
advantage.
Working knowledge in open source technologies and
CGIAR open access policies are added advantage.
Excellent communication skills in English (both written
and oral).
Requirements:
Masters’ Degree in Library Science (M.Li.Sc) with
minimum 10 years’ of experience in Library OR PhD in
Library and Information Science with minimum 6 years
of experience.
Demonstrated experience in managing Library and
Information services in any recognized academic
institution or research organization with strong
orientation and knowledge of Contemporary Information
Management practices.
Demonstrated experience in implementing information
services using cloud computing.
Knowledge and experience in database user interface
and query, Information retrieval or search, Library, web
page creation and editing.
Candidate must have good administrative, managerial
as well as customer orientation skills.
Position requires highly motivated, pro-active,
innovative individual and should work well in a team.
The position is initially for three years, and renewable
based on the performance of the incumbent and the
Institute's needs. It is in the Scientific and Managerial
Group (SMG) of ICRISAT with an attractive
