Vacancy of the Posts of Director, National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai and Bengaluru Under Ministry of Culture on Deputation Basis

Subject: Filling up the posts of Director, National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai and Bengaluru
under Ministry of Culture on deputation basis.

Applications are invited for appointment to the 2 posts of Director in Pay Band 4 : 37400-67000 +Grade Pay of Rs. 8700/- on deputation basis in National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai and Bengaluru, a subordinate office under the Ministry of Culture.
2. Job Description
The National Gallery of Modern Art, a premier museum of India with a rich and exquisite collections of contemporary paintings, under the Ministry of Culture is seeking qualified candidates for the post of Director for its branches at Mumbai and Bengaluru. The incumbents will be responsible for Administration of National Gallery of Modern Art and planning and implementation of all technical and academic programmes of the museum. He will also organize and implement special exhibition programmes/ Cultural Exchange Programmes and joint exhibitions with other countries besides the regular display of art works in the galleries. He will also look after the conservation laboratory and restoration work, art storage, digitization programmes etc. He will also be responsible for implementing the publication programme, functioning of the library and organizing academic courses on art and appreciation under formal and non-formal stream.
3. Eligibility : Officers under the Central/State Governments/Autonomous Organizations/Research Institutions/ Universities:-
a) (i) holding analogous posts on regular basis; or
(ii) with 5 years' regular service in the posts in the scale of Rs. 12000-16500 (Revised Pay Band:3 Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay of Rs. 7600/-) or equivalent; or
(iii) with 10 years' regular service in posts in the scale of Rs. 10000-15200 (Revised Pay Band: 3 Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay of Rs.6600/-) or equivalent; and
b) possessing the educational qualifications and experience as under:-
Essential : (i) Master's Degree in Fine Arts or History of Art from a recognized university or equivalent;
(ii) Evidence of Research Work in History of Art/Fine Arts supported by publications;
(iii) 10 years experience in Art Galleries/ Museums or teaching Museology or History of Art or Fine Arts and organizing exhibitions/educational activities.
Desirable : (i) Ph.D. in Fine Arts/History of Art (ii) Degree or Diploma in Museology from a recognized University/Institutions or equivalent (iii) Knowledge (at the level of a Certificate Course) of any foreign language other than English (iv) Knowledge of International art prices and problems of originals and forgeries (v) 3 years administrative experience in a responsible capacity.
Note 1: Period of Deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately
preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/department of the
Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed 4 years.
Note 2: Maximum age limit for appointment on deputation basis shall not exceed fifty six years
as on the closing date for receipt of applications.
4. Application, in duplicate, in the prescribed proforma placed below (Annexure-l) and omplete upto-date ACR dossiers of the Officers (last five years) who can be spared in the event of their selection alongwith vigilance clearance, integrity certificate, cadre clearance, major/minor penalty statement for the last ten years should reach the undersigned through proper channel within a period of 60 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News. Applications received after the last date or otherwise found incomplete will not be considered and stand rejected.
