Documentation Officer vacancy in ICSSR, New Delhi

Post: Documentation Officer 

Method of Recruitment     :    Deputation/Short-term-contract
Number of vacancies    :     4 (Four)
Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC    :     Rs. 56100-177500 Level -10
Qualifications for Deputation/Short-term contract:  
Officials from Central Govt. or Autonomous Bodies or Universities who are:
(i)    holding analogous post on regular basis; or
(ii)    holding posts in the Level – 6 in Pay Matrix as per  7th  CPC with five years regular service; and possessing the following qualifications: 
(1) Master’s Degree with 50% marks in any social science from the recognized   University or equivalent.
(2) Degree in Library Science or equivalent qualifications. 
NOTE:
1.    The maximum age limit for appointment by Deputation (including Short-term-Contract) shall not be exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.  
2.    Period of Deputation is initially one year extendable as per the rules.
3.    In case of deputation/short-term-contract, persons holding equivalent posts or having rendered five years regular service in the next lower grade shall be considered.
4.    Educational Qualifications for deputationists shall be equivalent to the qualifications prescribed for direct recruitment.
5.    The number of vacancies may increase/decrease. 
6.    Reservation would be as per the Govt. of India’s instructions/guidelines.
7.    In case of applicants applying under deputation category, the serving candidates should send their applications along-with APARs for the last five years and vigilance clearance through proper channel.
8.    In case of applicants applying under direct recruitment category, the serving candidates should send their applications through proper channel.
9.    Any candidate indulging in any form of canvassing/influence for selection will invite cancellation of his/her candidature. 
10.    ICSSR reserves the right to interpret all rules including wherever it is not specifically mentioned and may cancel the candidature without assigning any reason(s).
11.    Age relaxation will apply as per Govt. of India’s rules.  However, the applicant will have to mention for this relaxation and submit the evidence for such relaxation proof along with it.
12.    Completed application, in the prescribed format, self-attested copies of certificates in proof of age, qualifications, experience etc.  should reach the Administrative Officer, Indian Council of Social Science Research, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi-110067 in a sealed cover superscribing the “Post Applied For_____________” latest by 21st December 2018.  Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

ICSSR-NASSDOC Sponsored 3 days national Workshop on Web Discovery Tools and Services on 16-18 March 2015


Dear all, It's my pleasure to inform you that, in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi, BIT-Mesra is conducting 3 days national workshop on Web Discovery Tools and Services? on 16-18 March 2015. This workshop will create awareness among the participants on availability of various Web Discovery Tools and its services. The program will also focus to develop competitive skills and techniques for social scientist/ scholars/librarians on Web Discovery Tools and Services. There will be no registration fee for participants, Outstation participants will get free accommodation, no TA/DA will be provided by us, participants has to make their own arrangements.?The workshop is limited to 30 participants, so we will accept the application on first cum first basis, along with the professional background. Invitation for Nominations for ICSSR-Amartya Sen Award 2013 for Distinguished Social Scientists

Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has instituted the Amartya Sen Award for Distinguished Social Scientists from 2012. These prestigious awards are an opportunity to honour the outstanding contributions made by social science scholars towards promoting scientific knowledge in the domain of social sciences.


Following are the disciplines in which these awards are given to the Distinguished Social Scientists annually:
1. Economics
2. Commerce / Management
3. Sociology / Social Work / Social Anthropology
4. Political Science /International Studies / Public Administration
5. Geography / Demography
6. Psychology / Education
7. Legal Studies/ Human rights
8. Gender / Marginalized Groups
9. History / Archaeology
10. Philosophy / Cultural Studies


Last date to submit nominations: 31st December 2013

Eligibility Criteria: Any citizen of India/Overseas citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO) below the age of 55 years as on 31st December 2013, engaged in research and who has made outstanding contribution-theoretical and/or empirical--towards the advancement of knowledge in any field of social sciences, is eligible for the award.

About the Award: Amartya Sen Awards are envisaged to be the distinguished award for social science research in India. The Award comprises a citation, and a cash award of Rs. 10 lakh. Each year up to ten awards will be given to the scholars who have made outstanding contribution to social science research.

The nomination must be submitted according to the specified pro-forma and guidelines available on www.icssr.org. Duly filled nominations must reach to The Member Secretary, Indian Council of Social Science Research, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi - 110067, latest by 31st December 2013.

TRAINING WORKSHOP ON Various Trends of Information Communication Technology And Its applications in Social Science Information January 31 to February 2, 2013, at Jiwaji University, Gwalior (M.P.)

Dear Colleagues,

Jiwaji University, Gwalior (M.P.), India, in collaboration with the National Social Science Documentation Centre (NASSDOC), Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi is organizing a three-day “Training Workshop on Various Trends of Information Communication Technology and Its applications in Social Science Information between January 31 and February 1-2, 2013 at School of Studies in Library & Information Science, Jiwaji University, Gwalior (M.P.).

The ICSSR training workshop will focus on the renewed role of libraries in promoting information resources in social sciences. In view of the ICSSR/ NASSDOC’s emphasis on training and skill development of participants in the country, this workshop will be an effort in that direction to providing effective information services to the wider network of social science researchers in India.

The workshop is meant exclusively for candidates working as librarians, researchers in social sciences, and information managers of research institutions in India. There is no Course Fee. For outstation participants, No T.A. will be reimbursed. The participants will be provided with free lodging and boarding at University Guest House. A separate request should be made in the registration form for accommodation.

An early confirmation from the participants will enable us to reserve slot at this workshop which promises to be a vital learning experience for the participants. The climate in Gwalior in January will be cold.

The probable participants are requested to confirm their participation as early as possible (latest by January 10, 2013).
