Inviting potential applicants to participate in the Information Sessions in their cities.

To further discuss the grant competition and the application process the World Bank Development Marketplace Team will be holding Information Sessions in Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong on 26th, 27th and 28th February respectively.

The Information Session will provide an opportunity to get more specific instructions and details on the application form, eligibility criteria and the capacity building support available through the DM network. These Sessions also provide potential applicants the opportunity to meet with the DM team and some previous winners, as well as to network with other organisations in the North East Social Enterprise ecosystem.

UNESCO’s Guidelines to compare Institutional Repository Software


The Guidelines to compare Institutional Repository Software is being published as part of the UNESCO’s Open Access Strategy. It compares the features of the major platforms and is intended to help libraries focus on which features will help facilitate the success of their repository. The current publication compares the five most widely adopted IR platforms: Digital Commons, Dspace, Eprints, Fedora, and Islandora. Jean-Gabriel Bankier and Kenneth Gleason of the bpress contributed to the development of the text. Devika Madalli also contributed to the drafting of the text.

Admission for TISS's Post-Graduate Diploma in Digital Library and Information Management (PGDLIM) 2014-15 batch.

Eligibility:
  • Bachelor of Library and Information Science(BLISc) or Masters of Library and Information Science (MLISc)
  • Persons with disability: 3% seats are reserved for PWD of which 1% each is reserved for a)Low Vision/Blindness 9B) hearing impairment and c ) Locomotor Disability/Cerebral Plasy
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience
Application Procedure:
  • The information brochure and Application Form along with Fee chalan can be downloaded either from the institute website at http://www.tiss.edu or from the library webste at http://library.tiss.edu/pgdlim.html The application fee of Rs.550.00 (inclusive of Rs.50/- bank charges) can be paid at any State Bank of India Branch using the Fee Chalan.
  • The duly completed application form , along with fee chalan should be sent to TISS
  • The application will not be considered unless the form is completed and all relevant papers are received in time. Candidates should send only attested copies of their certificates along with application.
Last Date: for submission of application by post and in person at the Institute is 10th July 2014. The dates of the interview will be intimated to the eligible candidate through the call letters.

The Department of Library and Information Science, Bharathidasan University, Trichy - 24   is organizing aDST-PURSE Sponsored National Workshop on “Impact of Information Technology on Scientometric Studies” on 17th February, 2014 at DLIS-Smart Class Room.
Workshop Themes:
The Workshop aims the assessment of research performance and focuses on the contribution of scholarly work.

Original contributions based on applications / deployments / research /surveys / practices related to the theme and sub themes mentioned above,are invited for conference presentations. Based on technical committee’s recommendations, papers for the national conference shall be selected and will be accepted after thorough plagiarism check for stage presentation.
Further, based on the editorial advice, papers will be selected for the publication in Proceedings with ISBN.

Paper specifications are:- MS-Word 2007 format and also a pdf file of the same, Font Face:- Times New Roman, Font Size:-14 (For headings, addresses, affiliations) and 12 (For abstract and text) Indentation:- Justified, Line spacing:- 1, Margin:- 1 inch on all sides and of maximum 3000 words using APA Style of citation. Authors of accepted
