Opening of Library Internees positions at the Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi)

The Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has fully computerized RFID based in-house operations and services and provides access to wide variety of digital collection, catering to the needs of the Faculty, Staff and Students. Several new initiatives are being taken from time to time to make this library as one of the leading and resource libraries in the area of ICT in the country. The Central Library, IIT Delhi is the Headquarter for INDEST-AICTE Consortium.
The IIT Delhi is looking for young, enthusiastic, dynamic and fresh graduates/postgraduates with minimum First Class in Masters in Library and Information Science/Bachelors in Library and Information Science/Two years Diploma in Library Science to work as 'Library Internee' for its Central Library.
Stipend: Rs.13,000/Rs.11,000/Rs.8,000/-per month (Consolidated)
Period of Internship:Purely on temporary basis initially for Six months, on the basis of performance it may be further extended up to One year.
Age Limit: 26 years (as on last date of application i.e 22nd April 2014)
Nature of Internship: Internees will be provided an opportunity to work in different sections of the Central Library and learn the modern library management techniques and web based services. The selected candidates will have ample of opportunities to work and learn onemerging IT tools and technologies.
Selected internees will require to do shift duty on rotation basis along with other staff members. Accommodation facilities will not be provided by the IIT Delhi.
IIT Delhi may decide the criteria for the selection of the internees which may include Written Test and /or Interview. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the selection process.
Interested candidates who meet the above mentioned basic requirements may filled online application form available on Central Library, IIT Delhi Website(http://library.iitd.ac.in). Take print-out of filled form and paste passport size latest photograph on printed form and send signed copy along with attested copies of supporting certificates/testimonials by post on following address. It is mandatory to fill-up the online application form. Incomplete applications will not be entertained. Only application filled online and received the hard copy of same is acceptable.
The last date of submission of online application is15th April 2014 and last date for receiving print-out of the same by post is22nd April 2014.
Candidates who have appeared for their final year examination and are expecting the results before the test/interview date may also apply, but must produce the final marks sheet at the time of test/interview, in proof of them having passed the examination in FIRST CLASS.

It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that the 2nd National Conference of Society for Promotion of Libraries (SPL), Uttar Pradesh on Libraries Towards Digital Paradigm [NCLTDP-2014] organized by Department of Library and Information Science, C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur in collaboration with Society for Library Professionals (SLP), New Delhi, Central Library, CSJM University, Kanpur & University Placement Cell, CSJM University, Kanpur on Saturday-Sunday,19-20 April 2014 at University Auditorium CSJM University, Kanpur(India)-208024. The purpose of the conference is to have exchange ideas of Modern Libraries by hot topics which are puzzling the LIS community both in application and academia. The tidal wave of ICT has already started compelling Libraries and Information Centres to analyze new trends and work out strategies so as to play a vital role in the newly emerging global knowledge society. It has not only brought a change in the library and information services, but also on the roles of librarians and information professionals. Some of the challenges that the information professionals are required to strategically address include digital divide, knowledge society, Mobile Technology, Content Creation Management Emerging Technologies in Libraries and Information Services, Problems and Solutions of Libraries and LIS Professionals and User Expectation, Experience in Modern Library System etc. They have to stay relevant in increasingly fluid and dynamic knowledge Society by incorporating strategic foresight to explore new markets, products and services and ultimately meet emerging customer needs. This conference will provide the road map for building the global knowledge society.
