2015 Summer Associates Program:
May 28 – June 23, 2015
The Mortenson Center Associates Program continues in summer 2015 with a new theme, “Innovative, Engaged, and Responsive Libraries: A Professional Development Program for Library Leaders.” The program will offer library and information science professionals from outside the United States an opportunity to explore current issues and trends in the field and to engage with librarians on the cutting-edge. Program dates are May 28 – June 23, 2015.
Innovative, Engaged, and Responsive Libraries will engage participants in learning about novel and innovative practices and services in areas such as: 
·        Leadership, Innovation, and Communication
·        Digital and Print Collections
·        Information Technology
·        Marketing and Advocacy
·        Professional Networking
·        Library and Community Assessment
Program Highlights
  • Seminars and workshops which provide an overview of current trends in the field. Library experts will be invited to share their perspectives, offer expertise, and foster conversations on the themes of communication and leadership.
  • Tours to a variety of libraries, including academic, public, and school libraries. We may also visit the American Library association headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, and other sites of interest.
  • Small group projects will allow Mortenson Associates to engage in program content and explore topics with greater depth.
  • Networking with dynamic group of international colleagues.
  • Each participant will receive a Certificate of Program Participation upon completion.
  • Scheduling to allow participants to attend the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference, if they wish. (Arrangements and registration for the conference must be made separately and are not included in program costs.) Minimum age limit is 18 years.

  4. As on date, approximate salary for the post in the pay band of 9300-34800/- + Grade Pay 4600/- is 37,000/- per month. The approximate salary for the post in the pay band of 9300-34800/- + Grade Pay 4200/- is 29,000/- per month.

  5. For technical posts, the Organisation has a progressive HRD policy and provides an excellent growth potential for the right individual through its periodical merit based performance review system (called Merit Promotion Scheme) de-linked from availability of higher post, by which the staff can be evaluated for the advancement of their career in the Organisation.

  6.   7. At present the place of posting is VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, but the selected candidates are liable to be posted in any of the Units of the Indian Space Research Organisation/Department of Space situated anywhere in India as and when required.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC have to submit attested copies of latest caste/OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format applicable for reservation in jobs under Government of India. In respect of OBC candidates, reservation will be available only to candidates, who do not fall in the Creamy Layer.  OBC certificate must specifically include the clause regarding exclusion from Creamy Layer and should be updated/valid at the relevant point of time i.e. at the time of submission of application form for the above post.  OBC candidates, must therefore, furnish valid and updated OBC certificate which should specifically include the clause regarding “Exclusion from Creamy Layer” in order to be considered against the posts reserved for OBC.  In addition to submission of OBC certificate issued by the competent authority, the candidate seeking reservation as OBC should furnish a declaration in the following format:

  10. Based on the online bio-data initial screening will be conducted for shortlisting the candidates for further processing. The Centre may adopt the method of conducting written test for initial screening or may directly shortlist the candidates for interview by fixing a higher cut-off percentage for marks scored in the essential qualification course. Candidates called for Written Test/interview will have the option to answer the questions in Hindi also. Please note that this qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make candidates eligible for written test/interview.If written test is opted for preliminary screening, the written test score will not reflect in the final selection process. The final selection will be based on the performance of the candidate in the interview.

  11. Outstation candidates called for Interview will be paid to and fro Second Class Railway Fare by the shortest route including reservation/sleeper charges on production of proof of journey such as Railway Tickets or Bus tickets, etc.  If the candidates travel in a higher class of accommodation than the one prescribed, only Second Class rail fare excluding the reservation charges/sleeper charges will be paid. 

  12. The Centre reserves the right not to fill up any of the posts, if it so decides.

  13. Only Indian Nationals need apply. 

  14. No interim correspondence will be entertained.

  15. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
HOW TO APPLY
Upon on-line registration, applicants will be provided with an on-line Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference. After submission, it is mandatory for the applicant to send only the following documents:
  1. A confirmatory copy of the online application.

  2. No Objection Certificate, from the employer concerned in respect of those applicants who are employed under Central / State Government / Public Sector Undertakings / Autonomous Bodies.

  3. Caste Certificate (if applicable).

STEP 2:  APPLICATION
Fill in all the information correctly and "SUBMIT". On Submission, you will have an opportunity to preview and confirm. Read all the details carefully. If any change is required, Click on "GO BACK".
To finally submit your application, click on "CONFIRM" button. On successful application, your registration number will be displayed on screen and an e-mail will be sent to you. Note down your Registration Number and keep in a safe place. This would be required for checking the status of your application in future.
STEP 3:  Print the APPLICATION
This step is required to send your application summary by post.
Click on the "PRINT APPLICATION SUMMARY FORM" button. Take two print-outs of the form.

STEP 4: SEND SUMMARY FORM BY SPEED POST
This step is mandatory to complete the application procedure. Without this, your application will not be considered.
