Librarian in Govt. Law Colleges-4 and Librarian in Tamil Nadu Archives-1 by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission

Educational Qualifications

A. Educational qualification for Librarian in Government Law Colleges :
(i)Master Degree in Library Science with not less than 55% of marks AND (ii) A pass in National Level Test for Librarian, conducted by University Grants Commission or any other agency approved by the University Grants Commission. or 
A pass in the State Level Screening Test for Librarian, conducted by the University of Madras or any other University approved by the University Grants Commission

B. Educational qualification for Librarian in Tamil Nadu Archives 

(i) B.A. (or) B.Sc. (or) B.Com., (or) B.O.L. of Annamalai University (or)
B.B.A. of Madurai-Kamaraj University (or)
B.Lit. of Madras University (or)
B.B.M. and B.Lit. of Bharathiar University AND
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in Library Science; AND
(iii) Three years experience in Library works in any Library controlled or aided by any of the State and Central Government or Local Bodies in India or University in India recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grants.
Note: Provided that the other things being equal, preference shall be given to Candidate who has gained experience in Archival Library for a period of not less than two years classifying and cataloguing the Archival Library books. For more details, refer to the Notification


Age Limit: Candidates’ age should be above 18 years. Upper age limit would be 35 years for General candidates for post in Govt College and below 40 years for the post in TN Archives. Cutoff date for determining age limit would be 01-07-2012. (Age relaxations would be extended as per Govt rules).


Application Fee: Candidates need to pay application fee of Rs. 175/- through Online or Offline mode. Through Online payment fee must be paid through Net Banking, using Credit Card or Debit card. Through Offline payment fee paid through Challan (generated from website) in any Indian Bank branch or Post Office within two days from the date of submission of application.

Selection procedure: Eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in Written Test and Oral Test.
How to apply: Candidates have to apply through online mode through websitewww.tnpsc.gov.in or www.tnpsscexams.net, TNPSC websites on or before 01-10-2012. After submission of application candidates must send the print of application form to the Commission.
Instructions for Online Application:
1. Candidates should scan their photograph and signature.
2.Candidates are first required to log on to the TNPSC’s website, www.tnpsc.gov.in orwww.tnpscexams.net
3. Select the ‘Notification’ link followed by “Apply Online” link besides the post or service for which they wish to apply.
4. Candidates should fill all mandatory columns, upload photograph and signature at places provided and click on ‘Submit’ button.
5. After submitting Application, application number and password will be generated.
6. Take note and also take print of application which must be sent to the commissioner.

Last Date for Submission of Application: 01-10-2012

Last Date for Fee Payment through Offline Mode: 03-10-2012
Date of Written Examination for TN Archives: 03-11-2012 from 10.00 am to 01.00 pm
Date of Written Examination for Govt College: 03-11-2012 from 02.30 pm to 05.30 pm
