Documentation Research & Training Centre, a unit of the Indian Statistical
Institute, founded by Late Prof. S. R. Ranganathan is an internationally
recognized centre for advanced training and research in this area. The
DRTC now offers M.S. Programme in Library & Information Science with the
primary objective of preparing the next generation information managers.
This new and unique programme offers an ideal blend of courses spanning
library science, information technology, knowledge management and
quantitative studies. For those with an aptitude for higher studies and
research the M.S. Programme provides a solid foundation for Ph.D.
programmes.
M.S. in Library and Information Science
==============================
ELIGIBILITY
-----------
3-year Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Stipend Rs.5000/- per month.
DURATION
--------
The duration of the Programme is 24 months (2 Years); the programme is
offered only at the ISI Bangalore Centre
Junior Research Fellowship in Library and Information Science
==============================
ELIGIBILITY
-------------
A consistent good academic record with first or high second class in
M.S.(LIS) awarded by the Indian Statistical Institute or Associateship in
Documentation and Information Science of the Indian Statistical Institute
or NISCAIR/INSDOC or its equivalent degree(such as Master's degree in
Library and Information Science from any University) with at least 55%
marks in undergraduate programme. All eligible students will receive
fellowship Rs.16,000/- per month (Offered at Bangalore).
Selection Procedure
===================
Selection of candidates is based on merit as judged by their performance
in written tests and interviews conducted by the Institute. Past academic
record may also be taken into consideration.
Due consideration is given to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged candidates
for above programme (i.e., excluding Junior Research Fellowship
programme). Detailed procedures for selection of the candidates who have
been offered Junior Research Fellowships are available in the prospectus.
Limited hostel facilities are available.
How to apply?

Application procedure:

Candidates from outside India may send an email to dean@isical.ac.in with
subject Admission 2014-2015 for the application procedure. Candidates in
India can apply only ON-LINE through the official website
http://www.isical.ac.in/~
instructions, Prospectus given in the website before filling in the
application form. An applicant must have access to the Internet, an email
account, acrobat reader and need to have a digital copy of his/her photo
and signature in appropriate format and size (see Prospectus).
Application Fee:
-----------------
Rs. 500.00 for all applicants in the general category and all applicants
for the JRF programmes (irrespective of reservation category), Rs.250.00
for applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories for all programmes
excluding JRF programme.
Mode of payment:
----------------
The challan generated by the on-line system must be taken to any branch of
State Bank of India. The bank will accept only in cash the application fee
as given above and bank charges (Rs.40).
Incomplete/Improper Application Forms will be rejected.
