About the Conference



Libraries are the integral part of academic, R&D institutions and also in a society to disseminate information and knowledge to the user community for the betterment and well being of the society. Libraries invest heavily for acquiring,

processing and disseminating and maintaining resources by spending huge amount of money.Therefore, these resources should be equitably utilized to the maximum for academic and R & D excellence, developing competency skills and
acquiring knowledge for all the stake holders in the society. Innovative programmes and services should be designed using technologies
to provide access and service to all particularly the unreached. At present, one group of users have access to plenty of resources but not utilizing and the another group needs information but not getting access to the information. Therefore, libraries should plan and design suitable programme to provide access to information to all and connect the right users to the right resource at the right time.



Conference Objectives



The conference is intended to provide a forum or LIS professionals to discuss, deliberate andexchange knowledge and ideas to reach the unreached. The objectives are:

To identify the unreached groups
Reasons for not reaching the unreached groups
Reasons for underutilization of resources
Information requirements of the unreached group
Ways to serve the unreached group
Innovative programmes and services to serve the unreached group
Suitable methods and technologies to promote and deliver the services.

Submission of Papers



Original and unpublished papers on the

conference themes are invited for presentation
at the conference. Papers will be accepted only
after strict review by editorial committee.
Accepted papers will be published in the
Conference Proceedings with ISBN. Selected
papers may be published in the SALIS journals.



Author Guidelines



The full paper in word file (with an abstract not exceeding 200 words and at least 3 keywords) should be submitted as an e-mail attachment to citsalis14@gmail.com. 

Paper should not exceed 6 pages (line space: 1.5, font size: 12, font: TMN, reference: APA).

Librarians, Information professionals, LIS Teachers, Students and Research scholars.



Accommodation



The delegates will be provided accommodation in the college hostel on sharing basis against an advance payment of Rs. 500/- on first cum first served basis. In case of non-availability of rooms in the hostel, accommodation will be arranged in the nearby hotels on extra payment. Participants can also make their own arrangement for accommodation at hotels available in and around Central Railway Station and Gandhipuram. The room rent varies from Rs.

500 to 5000 per day.


Transport



CIT is located in the heart of the Coimbatore city in the Avinashi Road very near to Airport and is 8 kms away from Central Bus Stand and Railway Station. Call taxi, auto and bus facilities are available from all parts of the city.

Registration fee should be paid through Demand Draft drawn in favour of 'The Principal, CIT’ payable at ‘Coimbatore’ and addressed to

About the Department of Library, CIT



The Department of Library, CIT functioning in the vast area of 15,000 sq.ft. The main objective of the CIT library is to provide information services and access to print and e-resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the institute community. The fully automated library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, print and e-journals, back volumes and non-book materials.


The CIT library has been subscribing many on-line databases of e-resources including IEEE, ASCE, ASME, Science Direct, Springer Link, Mc-Graw Hill’s Access Engineering Library,
J-Gate Plus, GREENR, ASTM, NPTEL etc. The library is also a member of N-LIST, DELNET and American Concrete Institute (ACI), USA for sharing / accessing information resources and services



About Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS)



SALIS is a registered national professional body, actively involved in the development of all spheres of LIS by organizing various programmes such as conferences, seminars, workshops and training programmes on emerging topics throughout the year in various parts of the country through its chapters located in many places. SALIS publishes national and international journals, proceedings and newsletter for exchange of information and knowledge among LIS professionals. SALIS instituted many awards to encourage and motivate LIS professionals. One of the objectives of SALIS is to train the LIS professionals in the country to handle the latest IT tools and techniques more effectively and efficiently and also to understand and adopt the best practices in order to provide high quality library service to the users.
