Applications are invited for filling up of the post of Deputy Director (Documentation) on promotion/deputation/short term contract basis in the ICSSR. Details of the vacant posts are as follows:
 
Educational Qualifications:

Director (Documentation

(i) Second Class Masters or Ph.D. in any field of Social Sciences.

(ii) Degree or Diploma in Library Science; and

 (iii) At least seven years experience as a Librarian of an important library.

Desirable Qualification:

(i) M.Phil/Ph.D. degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation/Archives.

(ii) High Level of Computer Skills, Good knowledge of Library Software.

Age :                            Below 55 years


Probation:                 2 years


Promotion : promotion amongst Dy. Director (Doc) having rendered at least 3 years’ service in the grade will also be considered.

Age and educational qualifications prescribed for direct recruitment will also apply in case of promotion. However, the council may relax the age and educational qualifications in suitable cases on the recommendation of the selection committee.

Transfer/deputation: Person holding analogous or equivalent posts to Dy. Director (Doc) in the ICSSR or Central or State Govt. Deptt. Universities or autonomous organization similar to ICSSR may apply.

Note 1: The departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation. Similarly, deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion.

Note 2: Period of deputation shall be as per Govt. rules.

Note 3: In case of applicants working in a University as a Professor, his/her salary will be protected.

Deputy Director (Documentation) 


Promotion/deputation or short term contract.


Promotion : Documentation Officer with five years regular service in the ICSSR.


Note : Where junior who have completed their qualification/eligibility service are being considered for promotion, their seniors shall also be considered provided they are not short of requisite qualifying/eligibility service by more than half of such qualifying/eligibility service or two years, whichever is less.


Deputation/Short term Contract : Officers from Central/State/UT Govt. or 

Autonomous Bodies, or Universities, preferably from research organizations:

(i) holding analogous posts or regular basis; or

(ii) holding posts in the pay scale of Rs.15600-39100+5400 Grade Pay with seven years regular service, and possessing the following qualification;

(1) Ph.D. in any field of Social Science

(2) Five years of teaching or quiding research and or five years experience of research administration in a reputed organization.


Note 1: The departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation. Similarly, deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion.


Note 2: Period of deputation (including short term contract) shall ordinarily not to exceed four years.

Note 3: In case of applicants working in a University as Associate Professor, his/her salary will be protected.


Terms and Conditions:

Probation: Two years.

Persons with service or the central government/state government/autonomous bodies/universities may send their applications in duplicate in the prescribed proforma given below through proper channel along with up-to-date confidential reports of last five years, vigilance clearance, integrity certificates and no penalty certificates.

Completed applications should reach the Administrative Officer, Indian Council of Social Science Research, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi – 100067 not later than 30 days from the date of publication of the newspaper. 

The applications are liable to be rejected if they;

are incomplete in any respect; or

are not routed through proper channel; or 

are received after the last of receipt of applications.
