Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies ( KUFOS ) invites applications for the post of University Librarian in UGC Professors Grade


The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies ( KUFOS ) has invited applications for the post of University Librarian in UGC Professors Grade. It is a great chance to the tough professionals for he will be responsible to build up a new system from its foundation. Normally people who join this post has to build up systems upon lose foundations built by in experienced junior professionals  who only will be posted at the starting of universities as per the trend we have witnessed for decades which keeps our information support systems week and irrelevant.
 
KUFOS is  an autonomous public funded university established and governed by the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies Act, 2010 of teh Government of Kerala. This is the first Fisheries University in India coming under the Fisheries Ministry. Its headquarters is located at Panangad , 12 km. away from Kochi city, along the NH-47. Ernakulam South Railway Station is the nearest Railway Station, 12 km away from the campus. This is the principal instrument of Kerala State in providing human resources, skills and technology required for the sustainable development of Fisheries and Ocean Studies. It acts as a centre of excellence for human resource development in Fisheries and Ocean Studies and the nodal agency to establish relationship with institutions and universities functioning at national and international level. It  facilitates teaching, research, extension, training, scholarship and creative work in Fisheries and Ocean studies, as per international standards for the benefit the country.
 
The study of Fisheries Science has got vast opportunities in Aquaculture, artificial breeding, fish culture and also in exploiting the immense fishery resources. University offers Under graduate ( B.F.Sc.), Post-graduate( M.F.Sc.) and Doctoral (Ph.D. ) programmes in Fisheries Science, Physical Oceanography & Ocean Modelling (M.Sc.-PO & OM), Biological Oceanography & Bio-Diversity (M.Sc.-BO & BD) and MBA. Several Research projects sponsored by various funding agencies such as ICAR, NATP, DBT, KSCSTE, DST etc. in the fields of fish processing, value addition, Marine Biotechnology, Fish toxicology, ornamental fish breeding & rearing, fish disease and health management, fresh water prawn breeding & biodiversity, Physical oceanography and marine meteorology are being carried out in the University. 
 
 
The Qualification for the post of  University Librarian proscribed by KUFOS are as per UGC Regulation 2010 implemented in the university as per its Statute.
 
As per chapter VIII of the first Statute of Kerala University Fisheries and Ocean studies the required qualifications University Librarian are as follows:
 
1.   Minimum Qualifications 
 
(i)  A Master’s Degree in Library Science/ Information Science  /Documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of B in  The UGC seven point scale and consistently good academic record set           out in UGC Regulations;
(ii) At least thirteen years as a Deputy Librarian in a University Library or Eighteen years’ experience as a College Librarian;
(iii) Evidence of innovative library service and organization of published  Work ;
 
2.   Desirable qualification – Ph. D. Degree in library science/information science/ documentation / archives and manuscript – keeping.
 
Superannuation:- The age of superannuation for Librarian shall be prescribed by the University Grant Commission or Indian Council of Agriculture Research as the case may be.
 
Emoluments; - The salary and allowances of the librarian shall be prescribed by the University Governing Council for which University Governing Council shall take into consideration the guidelines issued by the University Grant Commission or Indian Council of Agriculture Research as the case may be.
 
Registration fee: Rs.3000/- (For General Candidates)  Rs.1500/- (For SC/ST Candidates)
 
Mode of Remittance: By cash at the University Cash counter (from 10.00 am to  3.00 pm) or Demand Draft from  any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Kerala University of  Fisheries and Ocean studies payable at SBT, Vyttila.
 
How to apply:
 
Interested candidates are requested to apply in the prescribed format with 3 sets of application which could be downloaded from the University website www.kufos.ac.in along with their bio-data, supporting documents (attested by a Gazetted Officer) and proof of remitting the registration fee.  Applications submitted not in the prescribed format format/without supporting documents will be summarily rejected. 
 
Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate application for each post and should pay processing fee accordingly.
 
Changes in the Regulations on qualifications, experience, calculation/application of API Scores, etc. issued by the UGC subsequent to this notification will become mandatory from the respective dates of effect prescribed. 
 
The University reserves the right to –
 
  • Not fill up any or all posts advertised.
  • Offer a post at a lower/higher level than notifying, depending upon the qualifications, experience and performance of a candidate;
  • Draw reserve panels for appointment to possible future vacancies;
  • Relax any of the desirable qualifications/experience at its discretion for reasons to be recorded.
 
The qualification prescribed shall be as on the last date of receipt of application
 
No interim queries regarding test/interview/selection will be entertained.
 
Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
