            I take pleasure in informing you that the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF), New Delhi in collaboration with DELNET, New Delhi and other organisations is organising the India Public Libraries Conference (IPLC 2015) from March 17-18, 2015 at the India International Centre, New DelhiThe main theme of IPLC 2015 is “Transforming Public Libraries in India: Envisioning the Future”. The Conference is supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The sub themes include Changing Role of Public Libraries at the Global Level; Public Libraries in India: Current Scenario and Future Challenges; Public Libraries for ‘all’; Changing needs of Communities and the need for their engagement; e-Content and ICT enabled services for the future; Library Infrastructure for the future; Capacity building, training and curriculam needs of public library professionals for the future; Financing public libraries for the future and Recommendations for the future of public libraries in India. A number of eminent experts from India and outside will be sharing their knowledge and expertise at IPLC 2015. This convention will be attracting more than two hundred and fifty professional Librarians, Information Scientists, Computer Scientists and others from different parts of India and abroad. The eminent speakers from USA, Singapore, Phillippines, Australia, Denmark, Nepal, India and other countries would be sharing their expertise at the conference. These includes the foreign experts namely: Ms. Tina Sciabica, Read Global, USA; Mr. Ian Yap, Regional Manager, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions; Ms. Amarjeet Gill Kaur, Director, National Library Board, Singapore; Ms. Andrea Telli, Chicago Public Library, USA; Mr. Ari Katz, Regional Director, Beyond Access, IREX, US; Atty. Antonio M. Santos, Director, National Library, The Philippines; Ms. Pilar Pacheco, Program Officer, Global Libraries, Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation, USA; Ms. Jan Richards, Public Library Association, Australia; Ms. Winnie Vitzanky, Public Library Association, Denmark and Mr. Bhola Shreshta, Former President, Nepal Library Association, Nepal.  The participation of Library professionals in IPLC 2015 will be highly rewarding and beneficial. 


 

Though the registration fee is Rs 1500  but as a very special incentive, the registration fee for the first 100 registered delegates (first cum first-served basis, must be a working LIS professional) is completely waived off and it is offered free of charge.
