Essential qualification for the post of University Librarian

Master’s degree in library science/information science/documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point scale and consistently good academic record and having minimum prescribed API score as laid down in relevant UGC Regulation

At least thirteen years as a Deputy Librarian in a University library or eighteen years experience as a College Librarian.

Evidence of innovative library service and organization of published work.

Desirable - M.Phil/Ph.D degree in library science / information science / documentation / archives and manuscript keeping.

(v) Essential qualification for the post of Assistant Librarian

A Master’s Degree in Library Science/ Information Science/Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a seven point scale wherever grading system is followed) and a consistently good academic record with knowledge of computerization of library.

Qualifying in the national level test conducted for the purpose by the UGC or any other agency approved by the UGC.

However, candidates who have been awarded Ph.D degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D Degree), Regulations 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of University Assistant Librarian/College Librarian or Documentation Officer.

A relaxation of 5% marks shall be applicable to SC/ST candidates at entry level. Provided that minimum marks shall not be less than 50% . Approved vide M.H.R.D. Deptt. of Education, Govt.of India, letter No. F.80-30/99/Desk(U) dated June 2, 2000

			(iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS)(refer to RX 1.4)

		B.	An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.

OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS In service candidates should invariably send their application(s) through Proper Channel. An advance copy of application may however be sent within the due date. Applications received after the last date, incomplete in any respect or violative of any condition shall not be  considered. The original application through proper channel of shortlisted candidates, if employed, should reach this University before the date of interview or alternately the candidates are required to submit a No Objection Certificate from the employer on the date of interview. Number of posts advertised may vary. A relaxation of 5% marks at Masters’ Degree level shall be applicable to a candidate belonging to SC/ST and PWD . Short-listing of candidates for interview shall be as per norms of the University. Mere fulfilling minimum qualification shall not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. The candidates having higher qualification shall be given preference. The University reserved the right not to fill up any post. Fees once paid is not refundable. Candidates who have applied in response to advt. No. F. 1-4/Estt.II(B)/2011-235 dated 7th December, 2011 for the posts indicated by asterisk need not apply again in the prescribed form and also not required to pay the requisite application fee. However, the concerned candidates are required to give in writing to consider their earlier application, failing which their candidature will not be considered. Candidates, applying for the reserved category of posts i.e. SC, ST, PWD and OBC, are required to produce the necessary documents issued by the Competent Authority so as to substantiate that they belong to the category as mentioned above. Further, it may be noted that the candidates, applying under OBC category, are required to produce a certificate from the Competent Authority that they do not belong to the creamy layer, failing which their application will be rejected outrightly.
