Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) is the largest establishment under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India. VSSC is engaged in the development of Sounding Rockets, Launch Vehicles, Spacecraft Subsystems and other Space related fundamental research activities. VSSC is the lead Centre for carrying out all the major Launch Vehicle Projects of ISRO such as PSLV, GSLV, GSLV MkIII, Re-usable Launch Vehicle (RLV), Space Capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE) and advanced missions such as Inter Planetary Missions, Manned Mission, First Indian Moon Mission (Chandrayaan-1) etc. The multi-disciplinary responsibilities entrusted with VSSC offer challenging career opportunities to bright and result-oriented Graduates/Post Graduates in Engineering/Science, who are capable of executing time-bound, state-of-the-art tasks of national importance in various positions. The selected candidates will be posted to work under the guidance of experienced senior Scientists/Engineers at VSSC/ISRO.

General Conditions/Instructions:

  1. The posts are temporary, but likely to continue.
  2. THOSE WHO POSSESS THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AS ON THE LAST DATE OF APPLICATION ONLY NEED APPLY.
  3. Age limit a) For Post Nos.1208 is 30 years as on 14.05.2012, 33 years for OBC and 35 years for SC/ST candidates. Ex-Servicemen & Persons With Disability (PWD) are eligible for age relaxation as per rules.
    b) For Post Nos.1199 to 1207 is 35 years as on 14.05.2012, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for SC/ST candidates. Ex-Servicemen & Persons With Disability (PWD) are eligible for age relaxation as per rules.
    Note: Children/family members of those who died in the riots of 1984 will be given preference in recruitment by giving necessary age relaxation as applicable.
  4. As on date, approximate salary for the post in the pay band of ` 9300-34800/- + Grade Pay ` 4200/- is ` 24,000/- per month and for Grade Pay ` 4600/- is ` 30500/- per month.
  5. For technical posts, the Organisation has a progressive HRD policy and provides an excellent growth potential for the right individual through its periodical merit based performance review system (called Merit Promotion Scheme) de-linked from availability of higher post, by which the staff can be evaluated for the advancement of their career in the Organisation
  6. The Organisation provides medical facilities (Contributory Health Service Scheme) for self and dependants, free transport facilities/transport allowance, subsidised canteen facilities, housing accommodation subject to availability, in addition to the facilities available to the other Central Government Staff. The Centre has a well-maintained Central School and a well-stocked Library that provides an excellent opportunity for professional development.
  7. At present the place of posting is VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, but the selected candidates are liable to be posted in any of the Centres/Units of the Indian Space Research Organisation/Department of Space situated anywhere in India as and when required.
  8. Candidates will have to produce proof of the details furnished in their applications submitted on-line as and when required.
  9. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC have to submit attested copies of latest caste/OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format applicable for reservation in jobs under Government of India. In respect of OBC candidates, reservation will be available only to candidates, who do not fall in the Creamy Layer. OBC certificate must specifically include the clause regarding exclusion from Creamy Layer and should be updated/valid at the relevant point of time i.e. at the time of submission of application form for the above post. OBC candidates must, therefore, furnish valid and updated OBC certificate which should specifically include the clause regarding ¿Exclusion from Creamy Layer¿ in order to be considered against the posts reserved for OBC
  10. Only short-listed candidates will be called for Written Test/Interview as the case may be. Candidates called for Written Test/interview will have the option to answer the questions in Hindi also.
  11. Outstation candidates called for Interview will be paid to and fro Second Class Railway Fare by the shortest route including reservation/sleeper charges on production of proof of journey such as Railway Tickets/Ticket Number or Bus tickets, etc. If the candidates travel in a higher class of accommodation than the one prescribed, only Second Class rail fare excluding the reservation charges/sleeper charges will be paid.
  12. The Centre reserves the right not to fill up any of the posts, if it so decides.

  13. Only Indian Nationals need apply.
  14. No interim correspondence will be entertained.
  15. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
  16. HOW TO APPLY 
    Upon on-line registration, applicants will be provided with an on-line Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference.After submission, it is mandatory for the applicant to send the printed application form (confirmatory copy of the application) along with the following documents by speed post without which online application will not be considered.

    1. A ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer concerned in respect of those applicants who are employed under Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous Bodies.
             The above documents should reach within seven days of registering the application and in any case not later than 21.05.2012.

    Guidelines To Fill The Online Application
      STEP 1:  REGISTRATION
      You would require your e-mail ID to register. You can register only once using this e-mail ID. 
      Click on the link "Apply Now". Fill all the fields and click on the 'SUBMIT'  button. On successful registration, you will receive an e-mail with following details:
      Subject: Reg: Advt.No.RMT271 of VSSC RECRUITMENT
      Then click on the link given in the e-mail to open your online application form. Check your SPAM/BULK MAIL folders if the mail is not seen in the INBOX.
      STEP 2:  APPLICATION
      Fill in all the information correctly and "SUBMIT". On Submission, you will have an opportunity to preview and confirm. Read all the details carefully. If any change is required, Click on "GO BACK". 
      To finally submit your application, click on "CONFIRM" button. On successful application, your registration number will be displayed on screen and an e-mail will be sent to you. Note down your Registration Number and keep in a safe place. This would be required for checking the status of your application in future.
      STEP 3:  PRINT THE APPLICATION
      This step is required to send your application summary by post. 
      Click on the "PRINT APPLICATION SUMMARY FORM" button. Take two print-outs of the form.

      STEP 4: SEND SUMMARY FORM BY SPEED POST
      This step is mandatory to complete the application procedure. Without this, your application will not be considered.

General Instructions to the Candidates
  1. All the above posts are as per the Central Government pay scales and carry other allowances benefits as admissible to Central Government employees of the respective scale posted in Kolkata/Mohanpur.
  2. These posts will be covered by New Pension Scheme of Govt. of India and will be eligible for other benefits like Medical, LTC, etc. as per the Institute norms.
  3. The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities/ Institution.
  4. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Ex-Servicemen, etc. will be as per Govt. of India norms. Candidates should submit their SC/ST/OBC/PWD Certificates issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format along with the application form, in support of their claim.
  5. After submitting the ONLINE APPLICATIONS, the printed proforma of the online application duly signed on all the sheets and enclosures must be submitted through speed/registered post. Handwritten and unsigned applications, which are not in the prescribed proforma of application, will be summarily rejected.
  6. Application from the candidates working in Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Government Funded Research Agencies must be sent through proper channel.
  7. Candidates applying for more than one post may apply separately for each post indicating the Name and Code Number of the post with prescribed fee.
  8. The Institute reserve the right to relax any of the age/qualifications/experience in exceptional cases, or in the case of persons already holding analogous positions in a University/Research Institution.
  9. Against the sanctioned Pay Band/Grade Pay/Posts equivalent position may be filled from a different cadre/posts or a lower position in the same cadre/post.
  10. The prescribed Qualifications/Experience indicated is bare minimum and mere possession of the same will not entitle the candidates to be called for interview/test. Fulfilment of essential qualifications merely does not entitle a candidate to be called for selection process. Where number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all the candidates. The Institute in such case, may restrict the number of candidates to be called for Written Test/ Skill Test/ Interview/Personal Discussion to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. The candidates should therefore, furnish details of all the qualifications and experience possessed in the relevant field, over and above the minimum qualifications prescribed along with documentary evidences.
  11. AGE LIMIT: Preferably upto 50 years for Code No.1, 2 & 3 upto 35 years for rest of the posts (as on the date of publication of this advertisement)
  12. Relaxations for Government servant's upto 5 years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government. ii) Relaxations in age would be admissible as per Central Government Rules. For employees of IISc/IIMs/IITs/IISERs/NITs/other equivalent Institutions who are educationally qualified can be considered for direct recruitment across the whole IISc/IIMs/IITs/IISERs/NITs/other equivalent systems upto a maximum of 50 years of age for group B and C Posts.
  13. The Institute employee will be on probation period of one year from the date of joining, which can be extended for further period of one year, if deemed necessary. On successful completion of probation the Institute employee will be confirmed. However, during the period of probation the employee's services are liable to be terminated at any time without assigning any cause with one month's notice or on payment of one month's basic pay in lieu thereof.
  14. Other conditions of service will governed by GOI norms/ IISER Kolkata relevant Bye-Laws, Rules and orders in force from time to time.
  15. The Institute reserves the right to reject any application without assigning any reason whatsoever.
  16. No interim enquiries/ correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter.
  17. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing any influence, political or otherwise will be treated as a disqualification for the post applied for.
