तेजी के साथ हो रहे डिजिटलाइजेशन के दौर में लाइब्रेरियनों को अपनी भूमिका तलाशने की फिर से जरूरत है जिससे उनकी अहमियत बनी रहे। लेकिन वास्तव में देखा जाए तो लाइब्रेरियनों के काम में कोई बहुत अधिक बदलाव नहीं हुआ बल्कि उनका काम तो और आसान हो गया है और भारी-भारी भरकम किताबों वाली लाइब्रेरी की जहमत खत्म होकर उनके हाथ में आ गई है टेक्नोलॉजी जहां बस एक क्लिक करते ही जरूरत की किताब हाजिर। इंटरनेट की चुनौतियों का सामना करने के लिए अब लाइब्रेरियां महज ज्ञान का भंडार बनकर नहीं रह गई हैं।
