The Institute of Mathematical Sciences is a National Institution of higher learning
which promotes high quality fundamental research in frontier disciplines of Theoretical
Physics, Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science & Computational Biology. The
Research Scholars of the Institute pursue for their Ph.D degree in the above subjects. It is
an autonomous Institute funded by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of
India and Government of Tamil Nadu. The Institute follows the Central Government
pattern of service conditions for its employees.

The Institute Library has a collection of over 70,600 cataloged volumes (books and backvolumes), more than 3500+ online journals, and a host of electronic resources accessible.IMSc invites applications from the eligible citizens of India for filling up of one vacant unreserved post of Scientific Officer “C” [Library] by direct recruitment on regular basis.

Essential Educational Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree with first class followed by Masters Degree in Library and Information Science [M. Lib. Inf. Science] with First Class.

Essential Experience:
The candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of Post qualification experience in a responsible capacity in a University Library / large Library of Academic (or) Research Institute.

Desirable:
Working knowledge in a) Library Automation, Digitisation and networking, b) Acquisition and management of e-resources, c) Management of library operations and d) Experience in working with Library automation and management software.

Pay Band:
Rs. 15600-39100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 5400/- plus allowances as applicable to Central Government employees stationed at Chennai. Higher starting band pay can be considered in deserving cases.


Age:
Maximum 35 years as on 31.10.2014which can be relaxed as per Central Government rules and as applicable to SC/ST/OBC/PWD category /Ex-serviceman candidates as per Government of India Rules..

Essential Qualification: Candidate must possess Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc) from any recognized institute/university.
 
Experience: Applicant should have 2-3 years of experience in any active library with working knowledge of computer applications in the library, experience in handling KOHA is desirable.
