I am very happy to announce that the Department of Library and Information Science, School for Information Science and Technology, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow is going to organize a National Seminar on “Changing Paradigm of Libraries in Higher Education” on New extended Date on 25th* March 2015* at SES, Conference Hall, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (A Central University), Vidya Vihar, Rae Bareli Road, Lucknow-226025, (U.P.) India. The purpose of the seminar is to have exchange ideas of changing scenario of Libraries in higher education by burning topics which are puzzling the LIS community both in application and academia. The emerging trend of digital technology has already started compelling Libraries and Information Centers to analyze new trends and work out strategies so as to play a vital role in the newly emerging global knowledge society. It has not only brought a change in the library and information services, but also on the roles of librarians and information professionals. Some of the challenges that the information professionals are required to strategically address include digital divide, Quick Response Code, Mobile Technology, Content Creation Management etc. They have to stay relevant in increasingly fluid and dynamic knowledge Society by incorporating strategic foresight to explore new markets, products and services and ultimately meet emerging user’s needs. This Seminar will provide the road map for building the digital India.

I take pleasure in informing you that the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF), New Delhi in collaboration with DELNET, New Delhi and other organisations is organising the India Public Libraries Conference (IPLC 2015) from March 17-18, 2015 at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The main theme of IPLC 2015 is “Transforming Public Libraries in India: Envisioning the Future”. The Conference is supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The sub themes include Changing Role of Public Libraries at the Global Level; Public Libraries in India: Current Scenario and Future Challenges; Public Libraries for ‘all’; Changing needs of Communities and the need for their engagement; e-Content and ICT enabled services for the future; Library Infrastructure for the future; Capacity building, training and curriculam needs of public library professionals for the future; Financing public libraries for the future and Recommendations for the future of public libraries in India. A number of eminent experts from India and outside will be sharing their knowledge and expertise at IPLC 2015. This convention will be attracting more than two hundred and fifty professional Librarians, Information Scientists, Computer Scientists and others from different parts of India and abroad. Librarianship is a noble profession. Its’ prime motto is to provide services in the best possible manner to the users. Librarian’s prime concern is also directly linked to Customer satisfaction.
As we all Library Professionals are blessed with subject knowledge and experience, usually the lacking part, which we come across, is the art of presenting ourselves in front of others. It would be possible if a library professional has thorough knowledge of managerial skills. A Librarian who has managerial skills performs better in his profession. Many librarians in the profession are not able to meet user expectations due to lack of Managerial skills.
Keeping this thought in our mind we tried to give a platform to the Library Professionals to groom themselves and learn few things on Managerial Skills. So, it is our pleasure to share with you that INTEGRATED ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY (INMANTEC), Ghaziabad in collaboration with MANAGEMENT LIBRARIES NETWORK (MANLIBNET) is going to organize a Two-Day Librarian Development Programme (LDP) on "Managerial Skills for Library Professionals" for Library & Information Professionals on April 18-19th, 2015. I hope it would be awakening to the inner potential of the Library Professionals of India. This will enrich the experience of the participants and it is expected that they will return to their workplaces as changed professionals who will fulfill the expectations of their users and become the true professionals they are meant to be.
